What we do

The service in plain English.

Industrial water systems cover a wide territory — potable and cold water services, process water, cooling water for heat exchangers and chillers, tempered water for washdown, heat-recovery loops, condensate return and pumped drainage. Lutrom designs, installs, modifies and maintains these systems for manufacturing and utility sites, working in copper, carbon steel, stainless steel, PPR and MDPE depending on the application. On new installations we design the system from a schematic — pipe sizing, pump selection, valve schedule, control strategy — and produce a bill of materials, isometric drawings and a written commissioning protocol. On existing installations we survey what's there, document it (many older sites don't have accurate as-builts), and quote modifications or repairs against a sensible plan rather than a symptomatic fix. Our fitters weld and braze in-house, our controls engineers integrate pump control and level monitoring with the wider plant control system, and our documentation package leaves nothing ambiguous about what was installed, what it's rated for and how it's tested.

What's included

Every job covers the following.

  • Cold water services installation — copper, stainless, MDPE
  • Process water systems — carbon steel, stainless, plastic (PPR / PVC-U / PVC-C)
  • Cooling loops — closed-circuit, open-tower and chiller-fed
  • Heat-recovery pipework — insulated, temperature-monitored, integrated with BMS
  • Pump installation and commissioning — booster sets, dosing pumps, sump pumps
  • Valve schedules, control valves and instrumentation installation
  • Insulation and lagging — thermal, freeze-protection and acoustic
  • Pressure-testing and flushing — hydrostatic and chemical, with documentation
  • As-built drawings, isometric schedules and commissioning documentation

Our approach

Survey. Quote. Deliver. Sign off.

01

Design or survey

For new installs we design the system from your schematic or brief. For existing sites we survey what's actually installed, document it, and quote modifications against reality — not against an old drawing.

02

Materials & scope

Fixed-price scope with materials specified by grade and standard, valves scheduled, pumps sized and pipe runs measured. No surprises when the delivery arrives.

03

Install & test

Installation to programme with pressure testing, flushing and chemical clean where applicable. Every joint documented, every valve tagged.

04

Commission & document

Full commissioning — pump curves proven, control loops tuned, temperatures and flows verified against spec. Hand-over pack with as-builts, test records and O&M documentation.

How we price this work

No surprise invoices.

Pipework is priced against a designed installation — either yours or ours. Small modifications (adding a branch, replacing a section, installing a new pump) are quoted after a site visit or from photos and drawings. Larger installations get a full written design and BOM before the fixed price is confirmed. Every quote itemises materials by grade, labour by activity, testing, commissioning and documentation.

Coverage

Where we deliver this service.

We deliver industrial water systems and process pipework across the North West of England — from our Northwich base. Same-day dispatch for callouts and scheduled visits for planned work.

Service FAQ

What clients ask before they call.

What materials do you work in?

Copper, carbon steel, stainless steel (304 and 316L), PPR, PVC-C, PVC-U and MDPE — each chosen for the application. We're happy to work to a client-specified material or to advise on the best choice based on temperature, pressure, chemistry and cost.

Do you work on process water for food or pharma sites?

Yes. Food-grade and pharma-grade water systems are typically stainless (usually 316L) with orbital or hand-TIG welds, hygienic radii and cleanable finishes. Where a specific standard applies (e.g. purified water systems to specific pharmacopoeia), we work to that standard and produce the documentation to prove it.

Can you handle pumped systems?

Yes — from single dosing pumps up to booster sets and duty-standby configurations. Pump selection is done properly from a duty point, not from a catalogue browse. Control integration (start/stop, run/fault status, level, VSD control) is done in-house alongside the mechanical install.

Do you do insulation and lagging?

Yes — thermal insulation (rock wool, phenolic, closed-cell rubber), freeze-protection tracing (self-regulating or fixed-wattage) and acoustic lagging where noise is a factor. Cladding in aluminium or GRP as required.

What about flushing and chemical cleaning?

Included as part of commissioning where the specification calls for it. Cold water systems are flushed to BSRIA guidelines; process systems to the client's or our own written commissioning protocol. Chemical cleaning is done under permit with the paperwork provided.

Can you take on legacy systems with poor documentation?

Yes. Undocumented legacy systems are one of the most common reasons clients call us. We survey, produce accurate as-builts of what's actually installed, then quote modifications or repairs against that documented starting point. The survey is priced separately so the client owns the documentation regardless of who does the eventual work.
