Control panel design & build for industrial & commercial sites.
Bespoke and standard control panels, designed, wired, wet-tested and delivered to BS EN 61439 from our North West workshop.
What we do
The service in plain English.
Control panels are the interface between switchgear, controls and the process you actually care about — pumps running, conveyors moving, product flowing, temperature holding. Lutrom designs and builds panels in our own workshop, from single-drive motor-starter enclosures to multi-cabinet plant-wide controls. Every panel is drawn in AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN, built to your specification, wet-tested against the schematic before it leaves us, and delivered with a full O&M pack — general arrangement, schematic, wiring schedule, terminal list, torque record, cable schedule, thermal calculation and BS EN 61439 test certificate. You can send us a specification, an existing panel to reverse-engineer, or just a functional description and we'll turn it into a designed and quoted panel.
What's included
Every job covers the following.
- Bespoke design — from a functional description, existing panel or full spec, whichever you have
- Enclosure sizing and thermal calculation — no more cabinets that overheat in summer
- Component selection — from any of the mainstream control, protection and enclosure manufacturers, matched to your spec and existing plant standards
- Motor control centres (MCCs), variable-speed-drive panels, PLC cabinets, PDBs
- Full BS EN 61439-1 & BS EN 61439-2 verification testing before dispatch
- UKCA marking under UK CA regulations (plus CE marking on request for EU export)
- AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN drawings issued as native, PDF and DWG
- O&M pack: schematics, wiring schedules, cable lists, thermal report, test cert
- Site delivery, install, energise and commissioning — as one accountable package if you want it

Our approach
Survey. Quote. Deliver. Sign off.
01
Brief & scope
We take your spec, existing panel, or functional description and turn it into a scope. Where useful we'll come to site to survey what the panel will actually connect to.
02
Design & sign-off
You get AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN drawings for review before a single wire is cut. Any changes are cheap at this stage.
03
Build & test
Panel built in our workshop, then wet-tested — every I/O verified against the schematic, insulation-resistance tested, HV proof-tested, thermally calculated.
04
Deliver, install, commission
Delivered to site, installed and commissioned by the same team who built it. Documentation pack in your hands day one.
How we price this work
No surprise invoices.
Panel prices are driven by component count, enclosure grade, testing requirement and drawing turnaround. Small single-drive starter panels start from a few hundred pounds; multi-cabinet MCCs run into five figures. Every quote itemises components, labour, drawings, testing and delivery so you can see exactly where the money goes.

Service FAQ
What clients ask before they call.
What standard do you build to?
BS EN 61439-1 (assemblies) and BS EN 61439-2 (power switchgear and controlgear assemblies) — the modern UK/EU standard that replaced BS EN 60439. Every panel is verified against the required routine tests and issued with a test certificate on delivery.
Do you provide the drawings?
Yes — issued as native AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN files (whichever we're building in) plus PDF and DWG copies. You own the drawings and the tag database; there's no lock-in.
Can you reverse-engineer an old panel we already have?
Yes — this is a big part of what we do. We survey the existing panel, produce as-built drawings, then quote either a like-for-like build or an upgraded replacement with modern components, better documentation and BS EN 61439 verification.
Can you install and commission on-site as well?
Yes. Because we're a single-supplier for electrical, mechanical and controls, one Lutrom team can design the panel, build it, deliver it, install it, energise it and commission the PLC/HMI behind it. Fewer handoffs mean fewer surprises.
Do you handle UKCA / CE marking?
UKCA marking is included as standard on panels we build. CE marking for EU export is available on request — we'll agree the applicable EU directives up front (LVD, EMC, Machinery Directive if the panel is part of a machine) and produce the technical file.
How long does a typical build take?
Small panels (single drive + starter) usually deliver in 3–4 weeks from drawing sign-off. Mid-size MCCs run 6–8 weeks. Large multi-cabinet builds are quoted individually — we'll give you a milestone plan on quote.
Got a project, a survey or a compliance deadline?
Talk to a working engineer — not a call centre. Every enquiry gets a same-day human reply.
